Community Promise (CP) intends to increase high school graduation rates and college enrollment.

Education is a fundamental right in the United States and the bedrock of American competitiveness. Yet, American school children are falling behind, with nearly 1/3 of children not seeing their graduation day.

Community Promise is inspired by Kalamazoo Promise (www.kalamazoopromise.com), an innovative program that increases high school graduation rates by guaranteeing college tuition. In addition, Kalamazoo, Michigan has seen new employers move into the community plus stronger real estate markets compared to other locales.

Community Promise is engaged with local business leaders, educators, and community activists to define and refine its program. CP members and volunteers have also had an immediate effect on schools, providing emergency tutoring for the California High School Exit Exam, assisting with innovative non-profits such as RAFT and BUILD, and providing consulting expertise on a new course curriculum and magnet programs.
